Variations in Color, Shape, and Texture

Please note that our coasters are crafted from natural slate, a material known for its unique and rustic characteristics. Due to the inherent nature of natural stone and the handmade process, every coaster is a one-of-a-kind piece. The product you receive may vary slightly from the listing image in the following ways:

  • Shape and Edges: Slate naturally splits and chips, resulting in unique, slightly uneven, or chipped edges that are part of its charm. The overall shape may vary subtly from piece to piece.

  • Color: Actual colors may vary due to differences in device screen settings (brightness, contrast, saturation) and the natural mineral variations within the slate itself. We cannot guarantee that the color you see on your screen will exactly match the product's true color.

  • Texture and Imperfections: Natural characteristics such as minor pitting, variations in grain, or mineral streaks are common and not considered defects. These qualities are what make each item special and truly unique.

By purchasing our natural slate products, you acknowledge and accept these inherent variations. We believe these subtle differences enhance the authentic, artisanal nature of our items and hope you appreciate the unique character of your coasters.

How its made:

  • Q: How is it designed?
A: To speed up the designing phase, we prompt our Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools with initial ideas and composition layouts to generate a base image. Our human designer then meticulously edits and refines these AI-generated images using professional software (like Adobe tools) to create the final, print-ready design for your premium item.

  • Q: Do you take custom orders?
A: Yes, we love creating personalized pieces! Please Contact Us at info@cotcoupleofthings.com with your idea for an estimated quote. Note that custom orders are final sale and are only eligible for a return if they arrive damaged or defective.

Product Care & Material:

  • Q: What are the coasters made of?
A: Our coasters are crafted from natural slate. Due to the inherent nature of natural stone and the handmade process, every coaster is a one-of-a-kind piece. Please read our [Natural Product & Handmade Disclaimer] for important details on material variations.

  • Q: How do I clean and care for my slate coasters?
A: To maintain the beauty and longevity of your coaster, always hand-wash only. Wipe the coaster surface with a damp cloth and a mild dish soap. Dry thoroughly with a clean cloth immediately after cleaning. Never submerge or place it in a dishwasher, as this can damage the slate's layers. While durable, slate is a natural stone and may chip if dropped or handled roughly.

  • Q: Where did you get the materials from?
A: Our coasters are crafted from high-quality natural slate. We partner with trusted, international suppliers to source our slate based on rigorous standards for color consistency and quality. Each item is inspected and examined before the final product is fully designed, engraved, and finished right here in our Maui, Hawaii studio.

Shipping, Returns & Refunds

  • Q: What is your return policy?
A: We accept returns within 14 days of purchase, provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Please note that all approved returns are subject to a 20% Restocking Fee, which is deducted from your refund to cover initial shipping, inspection, and repackaging costs. Once we receive your return we will process your refund within 14 business days.

  • Q: Are shipping costs refundable?
A: No, shipping costs are non-refundable. We offer free shipping on initial orders, but in the event of a return, the original shipping cost we incurred will be deducted from your refund (in addition to the Restocking Fee). You are also responsible for paying the shipping costs to return the item.

  • Q: What if my coaster arrives chipped?
A: Due to the nature of natural slate, minor chipping or uneven edges are normal and are considered part of the material's rustic charm, not a defect. Please refer to our [Natural Product & Handmade Disclaimer] on this page for full details.
